Overcast and 57 degrees- Nice, Nice running weather. High School track for this one after 4 days off just to give the body a break. It's really boring running the track but easy on the legs. Some wind that was switching up at times but not too bad. 3 strides at 3 miles 3.5 and 4, just real easy ones...nothing really fast.

I'm planning on running a 10K race this Saturday but not sure what kind of running I should do this week to prepare for it.

Good miles Jeff. Nice steady pace. I'm looking forward to your plan and execution for the 10k.

That makes 2 of us looking forward to the plan because I have no idea either. Here's what I think I will do. Run 7 on Wednesday with 1.5 mile hill run. 6.1 easy on Thursday and then hit it hard at the race on Sat.

That sounds good. Maybe you should look for 3 easy on Friday too.

Just curious, something I think about often. Do you do a warm up run prior to races? Some people run like miles. I think I have run once prior. Humm and that once I did pretty good. Ran that 10k in 6:59 miles.

Jon, I normally just do a little jogging and maybe a couple strides before a race. It does help me when I do.

Good luck with the 10K -- and coming up with a plan. :)

You will do great!!!

Teena,

Just read about Livvy...that's not fair making a guy read about her time in Africa :( I am a hearing aid dispenser so let me know if I can help at all.

You are so nice Jefferey! :)

I might have to come to you for information more than anything.

Thanks again!

(Btw, she is an incredible little gal that has done incredibly well. Both her and her twin brother had so many issues when we got them ... including tuberculosis, malaria, scabies, maggots, malnourishment, etc. (in fact, Livvy would cough up these long ascaris worms) ... you would never guess it now!! They are both doing fantastic!! Getting into lots of trouble and everything. :)

Teena-I'm not nearly as nice as you are!!

I have the UTMOST RESPECT for anybody that adopts children...especially when they have special needs.

Jeff, you'll do great! Think of all the endurance you have from all your marathon training :) Maybe do some type of tempo run today (say 20 mins?) and then off/easy tomorrow. OR do what I'd do and just run the race on Saturday. You'll do great regardless!

Eat as much butter as you can between now and saturday. It will cut down on your overall friction. You might have a heart attack, but it is worth the risk.

Good luck man. You'll do really well.

Jun, that is hilarious!!!! "butter" ROTF!!!!

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 13:48:55 from 71.37.18.170

Benn- Will do! Only 2 days running this week may affect my fitness for this race though.

Jun - Had to take yesterday(wed.) off from running due to work and my Mom flying in. She "monopolized all my time last night". :-)

funny butter story...few years ago we were on a high adventure scout camp and we hauled a bunch of coolers and gear to a lake and canoed it. We had potatoes cooked in butter a couple nights before hiking back out(steep uphill) and I decided to use up the rest of the butter so I didn't have to carry it back out. The taters turned into a butter soup sort of and my nickname for a while was "buttah". Still had to carry out the stupid dutch oven!
