Sweet morning! @ 6:30 temp is 54 and looking perfect. Once again some sleep issues with my coughing. Still a little plugged up. Got at least 5 solid hours though so can't complain too much.

Sluggish start- Was planning on doing 9 until feeling pretty crappy during the first 3 miles so changed my mind to 6 miles then after a few more miles the energy started coming back to me and decided to go whatever I could. Ended at 7.5 without being totally worn out.

Pace was a blistering 9:09 total but for the first 3 miles it was at 9:15.

Didn't wear my hr moniter today or saturday.

Next run wednesday: 6-7 tempo or marathon pace miles, not sure how many total 8-10 with 10 if I'm feeling good....

I think everyone is just having a sluggish Monday. I'm sure tomorrow will be much better.

Good run. Why no monitor? I'm not sure why I ever wear one, I don't pay much attention to the data. (probably need to learn about the importance of the data.)

Good run, for being stuffed up.

jona,

no moniter...sort of a long story...I changed the battery some time ago and couldn't get the thing open. Somehow it twisted the plastic on it and it rubs on my chest every now and again and causes a sore. Need to use an emery board or something like that to smooth it totally down.

I started using the HR moniter to check my fitness level...eg. same distance and pace but lower hr level. My hr is way lower than when I started using it.

That makes me worry for the day I need to change the battery on my HR strap.

I guess I could start monitoring my fitness level like that. Also, I wonder if that is also a correlation with effort. If my HR is 165 on a flat section with a pace of 7:30, am I giving the same effort on a hill with a HR of 165 but pace is down? I wonder about that whole effort thing. Seems arbitrary.

jona,

I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't be a moron like me and you will get it off just fine. On the pacing, I have been going by HR and think it's pretty close to effort level, especially on hills. I see you nailed a nice one on Saturday-

Jefferey,

Sat was a good run, I am having a hard time with some leg issues, but it was an ok run. I think I should have been slower.

One area I would like to watch effort vs pace is going down hill. Its easy to not give equal effort on down hills, but have equal or faster pace. I would like to see if I can keep my effort the same, and is that even a wise thing to do? Guess its nice to rest a little eh?

Jefferey,

Hope the cough is gone by today and that you were able to get some more sleep last night. Sleep is so important this close to the marathon. Take it easy on yourself. You are already prepared for the race ... the most important thing is for you to start feeling better. That would totally stink to still be sick when you have trained this hard.

What I'm trying to say is don't push yourself right now. Concentrate on nutrition and sleep. At least that's my opinion. I'm sure there are many others!! :)

Can't wait to see how your run went today. :)
